Is FaZe Banks A Content Genius Or Did He Deserve The Backlash?

The internet practically imploded last April when Banks kicked a ton of well-known FaZe members out of the clan - Blaze, Cizzorz and H1ghsky1 being some of the ones removed.

Everyone saw it as Banks f'ing over the OGs for bigger names. The understandable immediate reaction to this was hate, hate and more hate.

Let's look past that for a minute. Signing massive streamers like Jason the Ween, Lacy, and PlaqueBoyMax has done wonders for FaZe.

I mean come on - check your YT Shorts and see how many swipes it takes before one of the "new gen" FaZe members pops up.

The thing is - FaZe isn't just a trickshot clan anymore. It's a business that needs to do what's necessary to get to the top (or in this case, stay there).

My personal take is this:

Fans are so blinded by nostalgia they can't accept that FaZe needs to function differently in 2025 than it did in 2014.

This ain't FaZe house NY no mo' son. You need to move on.

Banks had two choices:

1) Let FaZe slowly stagnate doing the same thing year-in-year-out.

2) Take a very risky but calculated move to completely reenvision the future of FaZe, creating a "content" division of the org.

It was a no-brainer. He knew people would be pissed but also knew it had to be done.

I'm not trying to glaze the man here - but just look at how well new-gen FaZe has been doing (specifically on Twitch and YouTube).

Onwards and upwards.
